of Venture X
This site was started in September 1997.
It has been moved two times to reached its final destination: venture-x.nu
The idea of Venture X was born in the mountains of Vändåt, a dark, cold and godforsaken night in December. Eric Nylander and Leif Wikberg were considering new challenges to undertake.

The first Venture X was held in June 1990, of course in the mountains of Vändåt. Ten pairs competed in 20 squarekilometres of steep mountains and obtrusive forest. This year we identified our opponents by recognition or by frontlets in bright colours. Next year, 1991 – twelve pairs competed in 8 squarekilometres at Vargberget. In consecutive order followed:
1992 Trysunda (New rule: Joker). 1993 Öreälven (New rule: Treasurehunt). 1994 Balesudden (New rule: Forbidden zone). 1995 Grankullen (New rule: Non-recurring checkpoints). 1996 Ögeltjärnsberget (New rule: Scoring). 1997 Häggsjöbäcken (New rule: Tailing). 1998 Älgön (New rule: The Golden Triangle). 1999 Vitsjön (New: Ten-year-jubilee). 2000 Lögdeälven (New rules: Jokercompetition and Makatozi-route). 2001 Fågelberget (New rule: Attention checkpoints). 2002 Södra Ulvön (New rule: Hunting). 2003 Genesmon (New rule: Strider). 2004 Balesudden (New rules: NESW and water checkpoint). 2005 Råskärsön (New rule: Pool of points).
The motto is to learn from experience – the experiences of all the competitors – and make the game harder and trickier for each year, without losing it's original spirit…
