Sanskrit Karman (“act”) , Pali kamma in Indian philosophy, the influence of an individual's past actions on his future lives, or reincarnations. The doctrine of karma reflects the Hindu conviction that this life is but one in a chain of lives (samsara) and that it is determined by man's actions in a previous life. This is accepted as a law of nature, not open to further discussion. If you want a more thorough explanation, there are plenty of them on the Internet. An interesting description we find in the living book Pnohtefu, 'Little Purple Notebook On How To Escape From This Universe'. A nice treatise on Karma and Archery you find at "Archery and the Art of Reducing Karma". Finally a very good site on old scriptures, Theravada Text Archives. |
